Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the covert combat shipOregonhave barely escaped a mission on the Congo River when they intercept a mayday from a defenseless boat under fire off the African coast. Still smarting from a weapons-trade gone bad and a double-cross, Cabrillo takes action. He manages to save the beautiful Sloane Macintyre, who's on a mission of her own, looking for a long-submerged ship that may hold a fortune in diamonds. But what surprises Cabrillo is her story about a crazy fisherman who claims to have been attacked on the open sea by giant metal snakes in the same area.

What begins as a snake hunt leads Cabrillo onto the trail of a far more lethal quarry—a deranged militant and his followers who plan to unleash the devastating power of nature itself against all who oppose them.

Review
The guy I read Tom Clancy Cussler is hard to beat Daily Mail

About the Author
Clive Cussler is the author of many New York Times bestsellers, most recently The Spy and Lost Empire. He lives in Arizona.
Jack Du Brul is a graduate of the Westminster School and George Washington University. Trying to add as much adventure to his life as he does to his novels, Du Brul has climbed Masada at noon, swam in the Arctic Ocean off Point Barrow, explored war-torn Eritrea, camped in Greenland, and was gnawed on by piranhas in the Amazon River. He collects zeppelin memorabilia and when not writing or traveling (25 countries and counting), he can be found in a favorite chair with a book and a brandy. Jack Du Brul lives in Burlington, Vermont.

From AudioFile
Juan Cabrillo is off the coast of Africa with the crew of the OREGON, a high-tech undercover combat ship for hire, when he becomes entangled with beautiful Sloane Macintyre. With their combined resources and determination they seek a lost fortune in stolen diamonds. The treasure's dark history is matched by the fanaticism of an influential environmental terrorist. Narrator Scott Brick is well suited for this testosterone-laced tale of tough guys. His voice projects barely restrained intensity, like a street-fighter looking for any excuse to start throwing punches. Unfortunately, Brick's British and African accents are not as strong as his solid narration of the main characters. N.M.C. AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine-- Copyright AudioFile, Portland, Maine

Another Cussler home run!
By 2005GoldWing
This book has all the twists and turns of a typical Clive Cussler Adventure and the fanciful plots and plans made on the spur of the moment somehow end up in success. It is a fast action thriller from beginning to the very end.

Interesting twists
By Creole Buddha
I really enjoy his books and this one was fairly interesting. It had several plot lines but I thought it would've been better had they given more story to the lost cargo ship found in the desert at the end since it was just an intricate part of the story in the beginning and all of a sudden at the end they just almost as an afterthought have found the ship on land when up to the discovery everyone still thought the ship was out at sea. Then boom here they are on land miles away from the sea and there's no story to finding it. Just oh we kinda figured it and here's your ship and missing diamonds lost forever with no trace but hey we got them balm!

A good story with good characters
By Amazon Customer
I like the Oregon Series and the characters. Its a sense of teamwork and parts operating as a whole that makes this series a little different for me. The problems they get into and the solutions they just use are quite interesting and, of course there is the boat itself which is as much a character and part of the team as anyone else although silent. It's amazing what can be accomplished with an unlimited budget. I enjoyed the trip.
